History of ABL-SF The Asian Business League of San Francisco (ABL-SF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3)-membership organization . It was founded in 1980. It was the first non-profit organization in California to focus its attention on Asian trade and business. Through seminars, workshops and conferences, ABL-SF provides its members with opportunities to develop and enhance leadership and management skills for education and employment advancement. In addition, ABL-SF provides its members with opportunities to meet with other business leaders in the community, to participate in the advocacy of issues important to Asian Americans and to learn and share pertinent information about the current economic and business climate on both a local and international level. The common thread that joins ABL-SF and its members is a genuine interest in business and community issues affecting Asian Americans. For the past decade, ABL-SF has also been synonymous with the unparalleled success of its Distinguished Asian Leadership Awards Dinner. This annual event honors individuals and corporations for their achievements and accomplishments. The backgrounds of the award recipients are quite diverse. What they all have in common, however, is that they each have played important roles in advancing the Asian American community.
Asian Business League of San Francisco Youth Program In 1999, ABL-SF expanded its services to the Asian American community by reaching out to future business leaders with its Youth Program. ABL-SF is fortunate to have access to a vast number of practicing professionals from various business industries. The combined experiences of these professionals form a formidable bank of human resources, which would otherwise be unavailable to the young. The Youth Program is a way to transfer the collective experiences of these current business leaders to the next generation. The program consists of round table sessions with small groups of high school students each led by a business professional provided by ABL-SF. The program aims to stimulate career considerations at an early age and to promote the discussion of a serious topic in an informal setting.
