John Lee
Chairman, ABL-SF Board
John Lee has served on the ABL-SF Board of Directors since its founding in 1980 and currently holds the position of Chairman. John is a practicing attorney, having spent most of his career as in-house counsel at Wells Fargo, with his last position as Assistant General Counsel before retiring in 2001. Since 2002, John has served as the General Counsel & Secretary for Westlake Realty Group, Inc., a privately-owned real estate company. He received a B.A. from Rice University and a J.D.-M.B.A. from Stanford University. John maintains a passionate interest in music and collects toy trains.

 

Claire Chang
Co-Chair, ABL-SF Board
Claire Chang has served on the Board of Directors of ABL-SF since 2003 and is currently serving as Vice Chair of the Board. Claire also co-founded ABL-SF’s leadership program, You are the CEO of You! in 2008. Her passion for creating products, services, and organizations, combined with her desire to connect people, organizations, and cultures has naturally propelled her into leadership positions in several technology and leadership development organizations. Most recently, Claire launched BrightStone Partners, an integrated marketing solutions firm with focus on social media marketing. Claire is an avid golfer and also enjoys opera, snowboarding, wine, food, and traveling.

 

Luen Lam
President, ABL-SF Board
Luen Lam has served on the Board of Directors of ABL-SF since 2003, currently holds the position of General Counsel, and co-chairs the Youth Program. Luen is a real estate transactional attorney with the law firm of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP. He received a B.S. from the University of California Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles . Luen enjoys spending his free time with his daughter Audrey. Luen also enjoys hiking and jogging and is learning golf.

 

Stephen Jeong
Vice-President, ABL-SF Board
Stephen is Managing Director of Waypoint People Solution – a management consulting firm specializing in using cutting-edge metrics to improve employee effectiveness. He also teaches Leadership and Motivation and Organizational Development at DeVry University . Prior to Waypoint, Stephen was an Associate Director at Towers Watson where he advised Fortune 500 organizations across industries. Working with Ohio Department of Education, he also designed and implemented Ohio ’s high-school vocational education program certification system ( Ohio ’s Career Technical Competency Assessment: OCTCA). Stephen holds a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

 

John Chiang,
Treasurer, ABL-SF Board
John Chiang has served on the Board of ABL-SF since 1985 and is the Treasurer. John is employed at Pacific National Bank as its Chief Financial Officer and Secretary to the bank’s Board of Directors. John’s career history includes accomplishments as a senior financial leader in top tier banking and insurance firms. John began his professional career as a CPA specializing in the banking, financial services and real estate industries. John is very active in his community, where he was recently re-elected to the Piedmont City Council in 2010 and is now the Vice Mayor, and has been on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations. John received a B.S. degree from UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and an M.B.A. from UCLA in Finance and Accounting. John enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, wines and is a beginning golfer.

 

Victor Shin
ABL-SF Board
Victor Shin has served on the Board of ABL-SF since 2002 and previously held the positions of Vice-President and has previously served as President for two terms. Victor was a Marketing Manger in the Small Business Acquisition Team for Washington Mutual’s Card Services Division and VP of Small Business Banking for WaMu, he also managed multiple offices for Wells Fargo and First Republic Bank and currently managing the Palo Alto banking center for Comerica Bank. He is also the founding member and partner of Perimeter Marketing which helps small businesses create conceptual marketing plans that includes branding, positioning and social media. He has also served as CFO for the boards of the Natural World Museum and recently rejoined the board of The Presidio Performing Arts Foundation which he has served from 2004-2006. He graduated with an Executive MBA from Golden Gate University in 2004 and BA in Management and Accounting from Sonoma State University in 1996. Victor is an avid restaurateur, loves to travel, cook, read, run and spend time with his wife and 1 year old daughter.

 

Magdalene Mui
ABL-SF Board
Maggie Mui is Senior Vice President and San Francisco Market Regional President. In her role, Maggie is responsible for $3.8 billion in assets, 400 team members, and 20 Wells Fargo stores located in the heart of the San Francisco financial district and surrounding neighborhoods. Prior to her current role, Maggie was the Director of Specialized Solutions, leading small business, consumer credit, and investments, acquisition, cross-sell, and retention initiatives for the San Francisco Bay Area region. Mui is an active member in the community, serving on the Board of Directors at San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, Self-Help for the Elderly and the Asian Business League of San Francisco and Chinese Cultural Center. In addition, she serves on the Advisory Board of the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mui has recently been named among the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women in Business. In 2009 Maggie was honored with the 2009 National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Award.

 

Tony Ni
ABL-SF Board
Tony Ni has served on the Board of Directors of ABL-SF since 2006. Tony is the Manager of Energy Data Services in Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and has led multiple multimillion-dollar projects. Tony’s department is responsible for collecting metering data automatically for PG&E’s high-end customers. Tony has an MBA and double Bachelor Degrees in Computer Information System and Accounting from San Francisco State University. Tony is happily married with three kids. He enjoys traveling with the whole family.

 

Scott Fong
ABL-SF Board
Scott has been a member of the board since 2009. He has more than 15 years experience as a financial planner and business banking officer for Lincoln Financial Advisor, Linsco Private Ledger and Wells Fargo Bank. Over the last 20 years, Scott has worked in many facets of Real Estate investment and management. Scott has a BS degree from UC Davis.

 

Irene Cheung
ABL-SF Board
Irene Cheung is currently the vice president of IW Group. She is responsible for directing the operations of IW Group’s San Francisco office. She has extensive experience in public relations, community relations, advertising, marketing communications, strategic planning and media relations. At IW Group, Irene has provided strategic counsel, developed communications plans and managed advertising and marketing campaigns for clients such as AT&T Wireless, Kaiser Permanente, Health Net, Comcast, Yahoo!, U.S. Census, Washington Mutual, Chevron, Nike and Pacific Gas & Electric Company. Currently, Irene overseas client accounts such as Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive and McDonald’s.

 

Duwain Park
ABL-SF Board
Duawin Park is the San Francisco Manager of Financial Services for Prudential’s Golden Gate Agency. In 2010 Duawin was named as the top Manager of Financial Services for the Western Region and number 7 in the country.With 10 years of dedicated service, Duawin continues to be a recognized leader in the financial services industry as well as the diversity communities. Duawin has been a board member of the Asian Business League of San Francisco since 2009 and works with several other nonprofit organizations within the Greater Bay Area. He was Co-chaired for ABL-SF’s “Men’s CEO of you” program, which is one of the innovative diversity leadership programs in the nation.Duawin also works with many diversity organizations at local college and universities to promote greater awareness of financial stability and future opportunities. Duawin feels focusing on sharing knowledge will benefit everyone. Teaching and educating is Duawin’s passion and the key to his success.Duawin grew up in a small Northern California town of Colusa. He then moved to Orange County, CA to attend University of California Irvine where he obtained is B.A. in Economics with a minor in Business Management. While attending UC Irvine Duawin was a student athlete competing in track and field and was a member of several diversity clubs on campus. Duawin stayed in Southern California and worked for the next 10 years before moving to the Bay Area in 2005. Duawin is married to his wife Martha and have a 3 year old son, Matteo

Samantha Lee
ABL-SF Board
Samantha Lee has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry. She has experience in International Private Banking, Premier Banking & Investment Planning. She obtained her B.A. from UC Berkeley. She currently holds NASD Series 6, 63, 7, 66 & California Life & Health Insurance license. She is a Certified Financial Planner and has successfully passed the rigorous requirement of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards since 2005. Samantha Lee was also a Charity Queen Runner Up for FamilyBridges, a nonprofit association in Oakland, CA. She now sits on the Board of Asian Business League of San Francisco, happy to be giving back to the Asian community where she has received tremendous help from as a Hong Kong immigrant. She is currently working as a VP, Branch Senior Manager for HSBC Bank n the Palo Alto office.

 

Tamiko Wong
ABL-SF Board
Tamiko Wong has been serving the community from the time she could do envelope stuffing at the kitchen table as a child. She is currently working primarily with the Asian Law Caucus on their Advancing Justice Conference which will take place in San Francisco’s Japantown at the end of October. She has also recently done work for Hsieh & Associates / Community Outreach Group primarily working on environmental projects such as promoting oil recycling, wet cleaning, green business certification, and the MTC Clipper Card. As the Program Director for AsianWeek Foundation she worked on such projects as the Asian Heritage Street Celebration, SF Hep B Free, and the Community Health Fair at the OCA National Convention in San Francisco in 2009.She is once again co-chair of Sansei Live!, a fundraiser for Kimochi senior services, and serves on a number of boards including OCA-San Francisco, Asian Business League-San Francisco, Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, and is on the San Francisco Mayor’s APA Heritage Celebration Committee.

 

May Ng
ABL-SF Board
May Ng is a business professional with over 20 years of experience in strategic consulting, business and finance planning, and client services. Leveraging her experience in the healthcare and high tech industry, she is now an Account Executive for Axolotl, an innovative healthcare software company. May has a BA from UCLA, and an MBA from Darden (University of Virginia) with whom she serves as the class secretary. A former triathlete, May’s personal milestone was completing the Ironman Canada race in 2006 and in the process, raised over $15,000 to support cancer research for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She and her husband, James, still very much enjoy cycling, particularly in Healdsburg, and profess to being foodies.
